Traffic
The NCPD Traffic Division is currently staffed with one Sergeant, three motor officers, three parking enforcement officers, two abandoned vehicle abatement officers and a serious traffic offender program coordinator. The Traffic Division conducts traffic enforcement, parking enforcement, abatement of nuisance vehicles, and investigates all serious injury and fatal collisions in the City. The Traffic Division conducts DUI enforcement and works closely with the City's traffic engineers to address traffic-related problems on a continuous basis. Officers assigned to the Traffic Division currently are motorcycle officers on three year assignments. Future plans include several additional officers assigned to traffic cars.

In 2007, The National City Police Department kicked off a DUI Enforcement Program that will make the roadways safer for drivers in San Diego County.
